Resource Discovery

UKOLN has a long involvement in research, development and advocacy in the area of digital resource discovery. The UKOLN ISC continues to engage in activities related to supporting resource discovery in the research, teaching and learning domains.

Significant work

The Discovery programme aims to create a ‘metadata ecology’ that provides an infrastructure for Discovery-to-Delivery services that will allow better access to vital collections data within the Museums, Libraries and Archives of the UK.

The Discovery programme is funded by JISC and being co-ordinated by Mimas.

The UKOLN ISC provides technical advice to the programme, and has developed technical guidance material such as the Technical Principles for the Discovery Ecosystem. We are also now engaged in the creation and delivery of training materials, including the production of video and podcasts to support a series of workshops that will be delivered by Discovery during 2012.
