The UKOLN ISC is charged with advising the JISC and the wider Further and HIgher Educations community about trends in the development and adoption of technologies of relevance to the sector. Our primary framework for this kind of activity is the JISC Observatory.

Resource Discovery

The UKOLN ISC is engaged in research, development and advocacy in the area of digital resource-discovery. We support the JISC-funded Discovery Programme, work with standards organisations such as the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative, and develop prototype resource-discovery tools and services.

The UKOLN ISC supports the JISC's Research Information Management (RIM) Programme closely, through a number of activities, including reviewing and synthesising programme outputs and providing direct support to the UK HEI staff working in this area.
