Resource Discovery

The UKOLN ISC is engaged in research, development and advocacy in the area of digital resource-discovery. We support the JISC-funded Discovery Programme, work with standards organisations such as the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative, and develop prototype resource-discovery tools and services.

Developer Engagement

The DevCSI project works to engage with developers working in the Higher Education sector. Developers play a vital, and sometimes under-appreciated role in ensuring that our institutions can innovate and continue to deliver a world-class teaching, learning and research experience.

The UKOLN ISC supports the JISC's Research Information Management (RIM) Programme closely, through a number of activities, including reviewing and synthesising programme outputs and providing direct support to the UK HEI staff working in this area.

Technical Innovation

Launch of JISC Observatory Report: Preparing for Data-driven Infrastructure

The JISC Observatory has published the latest TechWatch report entitled 'Preparing for Data-driven Infrastructure', which describes ways in which institutions can adopt a more data-centric approach across a range of development activities. The report includes an overview of tools and technologies (including APIs, Linked Data and NoSQL) together with a review of technical architectural designs which institutions will need to consider in responding to requirements for greater transparency in their education, research, and business processes.
