Innovation Zone
JISC has funded the Innovation Zone (managed by the ISC at UKOLN) to support technical developments related to national infrastructure for research repositories.
Working closely with the JISC-funded RepositoryNet+ project (managed by Edina), the Innovation Zone aims to:
- facilitate knowledge exchange across groups involved with repository technologies
- support rapid innovation projects working with repository technologies
- support early and on-going feedback from developer communities regarding key components of repository infrastructure
- provide common reference points for key information (see Repository Infrastructure Component Catalogue in iPlus)
Since funding started in May 2012, initial activities of the Innovation Zone include:
- presentation on Innovation Zone at Open Repositories 2012 (as part of this OR2012 UKRN workshop)
- experts meeting on preservation infrastructure for research repositories (October 2012)
- feedback on use cases, APIs and key data flows (from November 2012)
- planning for outreach events engaging stakeholders and developers (including DevCSI ‘hackday’ and other developer engagement channels)
